Obituary of Diana Yvonne Goldstein
Diana Yvonne Antignani Goldstein, age 63, was called to the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2016. Diana was the daughter of the late Nicolina (DeMasi) Antignani and the late Ralph (Anthony) Antignani. She was born on December 26, 1952 in Bridgeport and attended Central High School. Shortly after, she owned Bell Cleaners in Bridgeport.
Diana had an exceptional singing voice which she inherited from her mother, and from her father emerged a talented artist. Although Diana never pursued singing professionally, she treated everyone to her voice all the time. Her favorite song to sing was "Stand By Your Man," which would have even deeper meaning for her when she met and married the man of her dreams, Gerald Goldstein. Gerry was enchanted with Diana's exquisite beauty. Her waist-long, flowing chestnut hair was her trademark.
Diana was the first born in her family of eight siblings. As the oldest, she doted on each new sister and brother that arrived. When Diana became a mother herself she gave selflessly to her three beautiful daughters. The center of her life was being a wife and a mother. She was a great mother; encouraging and guiding her daughters to the exceptional young ladies they are today. The excitement in her voice was contagious whenever she spoke of her daughters' accomplishments through the years. They were her pride and joy. When she became a grandmother it was truly her crowning moment. She enjoyed her three grandchildren immensely, the youngest-just 5 months old.
Diana was a great listener, very intelligent and dispensed advice and wisdom consistent with her position as the oldest, which were highly respected by all her siblings.
She was very committed to her faith throughout her life and believed in the power of prayer.
Diana started out as a fiery, adventurous young woman with a gusto for life and then mellowed when she became a wife and mother- her true calling- to give all of herself. That is her legacy and what she would most want to be remembered for. Her loss will be deeply felt to all who loved her.
Diana is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gerald Goldstein, her three beautiful daughters, Jessica and husband Igli Telo, Rachel Goldstein and fiancé Anthony Gianelli, Sara Goldstein; her three precious grandbabies, Mia Telo, 4 yrs., Elena Gianelli, 18 months, and Lorenzo Gianelli, 5 months; two brothers, James and John Antignani, both of Bridgeport; two sisters, Nancy Long and husband Ron Long of Stratford, and Teresa Antignani of Bridgeport, three nieces, Isabella and Savannah Mantone of Trumbull, Halley Romanoff of Chicago; one nephew, Daniel Cohen of Chicago; sister-in-law, Natalie Cohen and husband Dr. Donald Cohen of Overland Park, Kansas; aunts, Teresa Vitello and Rosemary Antignani of Bridgeport, Gloria Antignani of Stratford; uncle, Joseph DeMasi of Bridgeport and many cousins.
In addition to her beloved mother and father, she was predeceased by her loving brothers, Louis and Joseph Antignani, her loving sister Joan Antignani Mantone; her mother-in-law, Thelma Goldstein and father-in-law, Harry Goldstein.
