Obituary of Jose Luis Alves

Jose Luis Alves, age 49, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Maria Conceicao Freitas Alves, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, with his loving family by his side. Born on September 15, 1966 in Montalegre, Portugal, he was a son of the late Serafim Alves and Isabel Maria Pereira Alves of Portugal. A machine operator for many years, Jose was a retired employee of Burns Construction, and also formerly worked for Mark IV Construction. He enjoyed playing the accordion and was a devoted fan of his beloved soccer team, of F.C. Porto. But above all he treasured spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of 29 years, Maria, and his mother, survivors include two loving sons Jose Alves of Stamford and Steve Alves of Bridgeport, four brothers, Celestino Alves of Bridgeport, Fernando Alves and his wife Maria of Shelton, Domingos Alves of Naugatuck, and Antonio Alves and his wife Alice of Bridgeport, a sister Ines Baia and her husband Domingos of France, mother-in-law Virginia Gomes of Bridgeport, as well as several loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the family and friends who showed their support for Jose and his family throughout his illness. The family will forever be grateful for love, support and compassion shown to them. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 8 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
