Obituary of Barbara R. Bakalar

Barbara Robertson Bakalar of Trumbull died September 18th, 2015 following a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Esther Thorpe Robertson. She was a longtime employee of the Ti Shop and The Avenue of Trumbull, and was a former clerk with the New England Fire Insurance Rating Association. Barbara loved gardening and bird watching. She was a fan of the NY Yankees and all UCONN teams. She was a member of Golden Hill United Methodist church, AARP, MADD and the Humane Society. She is survived by her daughter, Susan B. Hogan and husband Steven of Lebanon, CT, son, Kenneth L. Bakalar and wife Marilyn of Trumbull, and sister, Nancy E. Robertson of Bridgeport, four grandchildren, Patrick, Christine and Robert Hogan, and Johnna Lee Bakalar, and several cousins, nieces and godchildren. Barbara will be sadly missed by her family, neighbors and friends, especially Shirley Dearstyne of Canaan, CT and Dottie Sagan of Carrollton, GA. She was predeceased by dear friend Marie Riccio. Many thanks to the caring staff at St. Joseph's Manor and St. Vincent's Medical Center. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
