Obituary of Edna May Kojalowicz

Edna May Kojalowicz, aged 87, died peacefully on August 4, 2015 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. Edna was born July 21, 1928 in New York City, the daughter of Franklyn Miller and Irene Scofield Miller, and was raised in Bridgeport. Edna graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport. As a young woman, Edna was an active member of the Newfield Methodist Church, where she met her dear, lifelong friend Lois Bunting. In 1953, Edna married the love of her life, Anthony Kojalowicz, and they spend seven wonderful years in Long Beach, CA before returning to Trumbull to raise their family. She traveled extensively, planning numerous camping trips across the U.S. with her family, and tours and cruises around the world with her husband and friends. Edna was very active in the YWCA and held several leadership positions. While raising their three children, she taught Sunday school at Nichols United Methodist Church, and was one of the founding members of the Tri-Town Nursery School in Trumbull. Edna enjoyed a rich social life with her many friends and neighbors from Canoe Brook Lake, spending many sunny summer afternoons at Atwood Beach, at her Wednesday bowling league, playing May I, and dining with her Lunch Bunch. Even when Edna became housebound, she continued to socialize through email, Facebook and Instagram. She was a witty and intelligent woman, with a love for all types of games, including Bridge, Canasta, crosswords and most recently, Candy Crush. Edna worked as a bookkeeper for her brother, Richard Miller, owner of Harrison's Hardware on the Green in Milford. Edna was predeceased by her husband, brother, nephew Kevin and sister-in-law, Dorothy Miller. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Linda Kojalowicz of Milford, Karen (Jeff) Gorton of Trumbull and Amy (Jay) Maltas of Trumbull, her sister-in-law Bernadette Miller of Prospect, as well as grandchildren, Julia, Melanie, Tess and Angie Gorton, and Wesley, Lila and Jude Maltas, and several nephews and nieces and a number of other loving relatives and close friends. The family wishes to thank all of those at St. Vincent's ICU who cared for her during her last illness, her loving home companions, her caring neighbors, and extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Clark Family for their constant concern, tender care and true friendship. Funeral Services will take place directly in Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Rd., Trumbull on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
