Obituary of Viola Verdi

Viola Cimarelli Verdi, age 98, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Verdi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on February 21, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Cesare and Francesca Pompili Cimarelli. Viola dedicated her life to being a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She also cherished working side by side with her husband Vincent for many years at Verdi's Hardware where she helped him run the family business. Survivors include two sons, Richard Verdi of Milford and Thomas Verdi and his wife Gloria of Bridgeport; three grandchildren, Amber Mauro and her husband Luke of Stratford, Anthony Verdi and Daniel Verdi, both of Milford; and one great grandson, Nicholas Mauro as well as many nieces and nephews. Viola was pre-deceased by two brothers and a sister. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. There will be no calling hours.
