Obituary of Charlotte I. Amato

Charlotte I. Crandall Amato, age 80, beloved wife of Dominic Joseph Amato, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, New York, on February 8, 1935, she was a daughter of the late George Franklin and Ida Phillips Crandall. Mrs. Amato worked for over 19 years at the Jewish Home for the elderly in Fairfield, retiring as a manager's assistant in the medical records department. She enjoyed her trips to the casino and cruises with her family. She was a remarkable cook and loved to host parties and family gatherings. But most of all she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were all her pride and joy. In addition to her devoted husband Dominic of 64 years, survivors include her loving children, Gwendolyn T. Minalga and her husband Michael of Trumbull, Michael John Amato of Naugatuck, Donnamarie Amato of Bridgeport, four cherished grandchildren, Holly Paradis of Manchester, Shannon Amato of Milford, Rachelle Hall and her husband Allen of Waterbury, Stephanie Haywood and her husband Tully of Naugatuck and five cherished great grandchildren, Gerald Paradis, Kristiana Amato, Dominic Paradis, Miranda Haywood, and William Haywood as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Nicole Millie Arsenault, four sisters, Helen DePrimo, Betty Lesnick, Prudence Soleck, and Lillian Crandall and two brothers, Clarence O. Gokay and William Crandall. At Charlotte's request the family would appreciate that young children not be in attendance at the wake and funeral service. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 12:00 noon in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, may be made to The Connecticut Hospice, 1 Park St, Norwalk, CT 06851.
