Obituary of Michael Stoverchy

Michael Stoverchy 92, of Bellingham, MA and formerly of Stratford, CT passed away at home on Saturday, May 9, 2015, with his family by his side. Born in Hnojne, Czechoslovakia, Michael came to the United States at the age of 15. A longtime resident of Connecticut he moved to Massachusetts in 2010. Michael served in the US Marine Corps during World War II as an Expert Rifleman and participated in the assault of Saipan, Marinas Island where he was wounded in battle and was awarded a Purple Heart. Upon return from service he worked at Remington Arms for 35 years as an Engineer and Machinist. Michael was a lifetime member of The American Legion and a member of the Sokol Hall of Bridgeport, CT. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucy Sorrentino Stoverchy, two daughters, Kathryn Monaco and her husband John of Franklin, MA and Patricia Knapp and her husband William of Kennesaw, GA three grandchildren, Francine Dubriske and her husband David of Franklin, MA, James Michael Vincenzi and his wife Nicole of Clifton Park, NY, and Erica Fuchs and her husband Brian of Kennesaw, GA, nine great grandchildren, a brother John Stoverchy and his wife Rita of Bridgeport, CT and a sister Ann Mulvey of Naples, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews and his best friend and grand dog, Abbey. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
