Obituary of Gearld H. Benway

Gearld (Gary) H. Benway, age 49, of Monroe, loving husband of Angela Tadduni Benway, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Milford on September 10, 1965, he was a son of Gearld D. Benway of Hamden and Sandra Benway of Hamden. Gary was a graduate of the Hamden High School Class of 1983 and was employed by Pace Motor Lines. An avid sportsman, he was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. He was a devoted husband and father and a loving son who cared deeply for his family. Gary treasured everyday spent with his wife and children. His strong will and courage will forever live in the hearts of his family. Gary will be truly be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his loving wife of 12 years, Angela, and his parents, survivors include five cherished children, Gary Scott Benway and his wife Belle Jaye of Southington, Luke Anthony, Dylan Joseph, Kyle David and Paige Rylie, all of Monroe, an adored grandson, Aiden, a brother, Keith Benway and his wife Christy of FL, sister, Jen Viana and her husband Leo of MA, his grandfather, John Serfilippi of Orange, father and mother-in-law, Anthony and Deborah Tadduni of Monroe, sister-in-law, Christina Dyer and her husband John of Oxford, brother-in-law, Anthony Tadduni Jr., and his wife Lindsay of Easton, special friends, Jessy Baumann and Very Roy, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. His family would also like to acknowledge a special thanks to Nurse June Suib, Dr. Neal Fishbach, and the Vitas Hospice Staff. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Stephen's Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an education fund to benefit his children through the funeral home.
