Obituary of Albert M. Cortina
Albert M. Cortina Sr., age 80, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Sebastiana (Betsy) Paniccia Cortina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 21, 1934 in Ripi, Province of Frosinone, Italy, he was a son of the late Augusto and Rosa Zangrilli Cortina. Mr. Cortina was a U. S. Army veteran and graduated from Bullard Havens as a licensed electrician. With his determination and entrepreneurial spirit he started County Electric Construction Inc. in 1963 and after 52 years of devoting his life to hard work, he built the company to what it is today. He was very proud of his family and was happy to have the fruits of his labor lovingly passed down to the second generation of owners, Al Jr. and Michael. Over the years he developed many relationships and contacts and was well-respected in his field. He was a member of the Fairfield County Electrical Assoc. and the Circolo Sportivo Club of Bridgeport. When he wasn't working he enjoyed poker with his friends, bowling, bocce, fishing and had a passion for sports cars.
In addition to his beloved wife Betsy of 53 years, survivors include his three loving children, Albert Cortina Jr. and his wife Patrizia of Easton, Donna Lancia and her husband Maurizio of Trumbull and Michael Cortina and his wife Tina of Easton, a sister, Vincenza Pullo and her husband Biagio of Trumbull, brothers, Lino Cortina and his wife Lina of Trumbull, Gino Cortina and his wife Silvana of Trumbull, seven grandchildren, Albert, Alessandra, Anthony, Robert, Christopher, Michael and Justin and a brother-in-law, Guy Paniccia and his wife Amy Marie of Bridgeport as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Filomena Cortina.
