Obituary of Marie B. Maiocco
Marie Nicola Benedetto Maiocco, age 98, of Delray Beach, FL, beloved wife of Egidio Maiocco, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Marie was born in Bridgeport on May 13, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Columba Donatelli Benedetto.
She was a long time resident of Bridgeport and Trumbull before moving to Delray Beach, FL. In 1952 she founded Marie's Bridal Shoppe on Frank St., Bridgeport which later was moved to Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield. Marie was a cheerful, beautiful, vivacious and caring person all of her life. She loved people and especially loved the hundreds of brides to whom she made and sold wedding gowns. She treated each bride as if they were her own daughter. She absolutely loved her business. Marie retired with her husband to Delray Beach, FL in 1979. She was a devout Catholic who loved everyone and everyone loved her. She was actively involved in the Madonna Guild and was a Eucharist Minister. She also worked for many years in the gift shop at St. Thomas Moore Church of Boynton Beach, FL.
Marie is survived by her son, Leonard Maiocco and his wife Judith of Broomfield, CO, and son, Robert Maiocco and his wife Marji of Milford, NH, a brother, Frank Benedetto of Boynton Beach, FL, a daughter in law Mary Maiocco of Stratford, CT, eight grandchildren, Julianne Maiocco Breedlove and her husband John, Richard Maiocco Jr. and his wife Stacey, Christina Maiocco Savignano and her husband Anthony Jr., Kathryn Maiocco Dudzinski and her husband Keith, Bob Maiocco II, Lenny Maiocco and his wife Rosario, James Maiocco and his wife Amy, Marie Maiocco Gil and her husband Michael and twenty- two great grandchildren, Robb and Alex Ralph, Samantha, Anna and Joseph Maiocco, Elizabeth and Anthony III Savignano, Jack, Mary and Elizabeth Dudzinski, Jack and Tyler Maiocco, Gabriela, Catalina and Lucas Maiocco , Emma, Reed and Molly Maiocco, Sarah, Emma, Alexandra and Matthew Gil, her god daughter Lucy (Babe) Kucky, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Egidio, her son, Richard Maiocco, her granddaughter, Jenni Maiocco Wheeler, three brothers, Thomas, Leonard and Columbo (Jack ) Benedetto, a sister Lucy Orticelli and her beloved niece, Filomena Ricci Benedetto who worked with her for many years at the Bridal Shoppe.
Family and friends are invited to meet directly at Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St Michael's Cemetery, Chapel Mausoleum, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
