Obituary of Joseph M. Gallo

Joseph M. Gallo, age 84, of Stratford, passed into eternal peace on Monday, December 1, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family. To be at home, being tenderly cared for, was his greatest comfort. With the adoration of his loving wife and devoted sons and their families and a host of wonderful friends, he was a content and grateful man. Joe was born in Bridgeport on April 15, 1930, being the youngest child in his family of five older sisters and a brother. He was a son of the late Anthony and Rose Siciliano Gallo. Joe enjoyed his young life attending St. Charles Parochial School, and was a 1949 graduate of Harding High School. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served four years during the Korean War. It was during his military service, in Texas, that he met the love of his life, Ann Deaton Gallo. Upon returning to Connecticut, he began his working career and Joe enrolled in the University of Bridgeport. In 1955, he and Ann married and started their enjoyable life together in Bridgeport. They recently celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary. Joe had a spectacular career of almost 40 years as a sales representative for MetLife where he forged many lifelong friendships along the way. He and Ann moved to Oronoque Village over 20 years ago and became very active in many groups and organizations, where he created another extension of wonderful friends. He enjoyed golfing, painting, swimming, and participating in the Oronoque community. He especially enjoyed his treasured times with his seven loving grandchildren… "Their Poppy". In addition to his precious wife, Ann, Joe is survived by three loving sons; Anthony (Skip) Gallo and his wife Genevieve, Todd Gallo and his wife Brigette , and Timothy Gallo and his wife Gina; seven cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica, Anthony (AJ), Scott, Brian, Ava and James; nieces, Sherry Yaniga and her husband Steve and Nona Donofrio; nephews, Samuel and Dahill Donofrio; as well as his great-niece, Shane Wooster. He was predeceased by his siblings, Santa, Caroline, Helen, Mary, Domenic and Rose. The family would like to give a very special recognition to the loving care extended to Joe by his good buddy, Anthony Benedetto, as well as Dawn and Jennifer who made his life so much brighter and the family will be forever grateful. Friends are invited to meet directly on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
