Obituary of Mary A. Guinta

Trumbull Resident Mary A. Epifano Guinta, age 79, of Trumbull, beloved wife of Carmen J. Guinta, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 7, 2011, in the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport on September 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Egidio and Margaret DeMayo Epifano. Mary was a secretary with the Trumbull Public School System for over 30 years before retiring from Middlebrook School. In addition to her husband of 59 years she leaves two daughters, Peg Guinta and her husband Philip Hogan of Trumbull, Donna Guinta of Shelton, two sons, Thomas Guinta and his wife Cindy of Trumbull, Carmen Guinta Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Eden Prairie, MN, two sisters, Eleanor Epifano and Marguerite Hollis both of Bridgeport, a brother, Gene Epifano of SC and two loving grandchildren, Claire and Michael Guinta. Mary Guinta lived her last 8 years at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield after an accident, resulting in a spinal cord injury. Her courage and grace during this difficult time was an inspiration to all who knew her. Mary had many joys in her life that revolved around time spent with family and friends and baking delicious meals and desserts for them. Mary also acquired an interest in watercolor painting during her time at the Jewish Home and created several works that were published and displayed. Most of all she loved her family; her devoted husband, children and grandchildren. They gave her much comfort and joy. The family would like to thank the many caring staff at the Jewish Home for their kindness and loving care over the past eight years. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 10th at 10:00 am. Internment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
