Obituary of Paul L. Solusky

Paul L. Solusky, age 59, of Beacon Falls, passed away after a long and courageous battle with leukemia, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the beloved son of Natalie Solo Solusky of Bridgeport and the late Leonard Solusky. Mr. Solusky was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, class of 1973, and attended Western Connecticut State University, having played football for both schools. Prior to his illness, he was employed by Eastern Bag & Paper Co. in Milford. He truly loved working with his hands and he was a handy man who could fix anything. He was a car enthusiast, enjoyed nature, being outdoors and landscaping. In addition to his mother, survivors include a very devoted sister, Donna Micalizzi and her husband Dr. Philip A. Micalizzi Jr., of Trumbull, two uncles, Dr. James A. Solo of Southbury, Michael Solusky of Huntington, three aunts, Madeline Solo Ghilardi of Huntington, Pauline Solusky of Huntington, Romayne Nanni of PA and three cherished nieces and nephews, Atty. Carla Micalizzi and her fiancé Michael Droniak of Hamden, Daren and Jason Micalizzi of Trumbull as well as several cousins and friends. He was predeceased by uncles, Joseph and Paul Solusky. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Gaylord Rehabilitation and Smilow Cancer Hospital for the professional care and compassion shown to Paul in his time of need. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven Hospital, 20 York St, New Haven, CT 06510.
