Obituary of Nicholas T. Cousins

Nicholas Thomas Cousins, of the Huntington section of Shelton, born on December 27, 1933 in Bridgeport, son of the late Maurice Cousins and Mary Petrocelli Cousins, died on June 26, 2014 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport after a courageous battle with MDS. He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Springer Cousins, his loving children, MaryLou Zarrella (Lawrence) of Shelton, Nicholas M. Cousins (Donna) of Stratford, Maureen Cousins Carroll (Thomas) of Shelton, Frederick C. Cousins of Bridgeport, stepson, Michael Kuntz (Connie) of North Carolina, sister, Janet Cousins Landone, special sister-in-law, Patricia Kopcik, brothers-in-law, Charles Springer (Susan), David Springer (Leigh Ann), grandchildren, Christopher Costa, Nichelle Cousins, Frederick Cousins, Kimberly Cousins, Amy Cousins, Thomas Carroll and Matthew Zarrella, great grandsons, Jacob Costa, Elias Cousins, aunts, Rosita Petrocelli and Grace McGuire, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and former wife, Evelyn Cousins. In addition to his parents, Nicholas was pre-deceased by many aunts, uncles and special cousin, Mildred Nuzzi Roberts and special uncle, Louis Petrocelli, who was like a brother to him. He was also pre-deceased by his step granddaughter, Justine Marie Kuntz and step daughter, Deborah Ann Kuntz. He proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, he was a true American patriot. He was supervisor of the Electronics Lab at Textron Lycoming for over 36 years and a member of the Textron Lycoming Management Club. He was a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club, also lifetime member and past Commodore of Pequonnock Yacht Club and participated for many years with St. Vincent's Swim Across the Sound. He was an avid boater, loved people and lived life for his family. He was knowledgeable in many areas, loved to invent, experiment, build, fix and improve his life and the lives of people around him. Nick was also an excellent photographer and videographer specializing in wedding photos and videos as well as family photos having inherited this trait from his father. He was a wonderful son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and true friend to all he knew. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Seyed H. Aleali, the caring staff of St. Vincent's Infusion Center, Swim Hematology Oncology and the Staff of St. Vincent's 9th Floor South. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
