Obituary of Charles C. DeCesare

Charles C. DeCesare, age 96, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Ruth E. Lindquist DeCesare, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on January 2, 1918, he was a son of the late Charles and Louisa Maribella DeCesare. He played football at Central High School and was a member of the Class of 1936. Mr. DeCesare was the founder of DeCesare's Builders Hardware of Bridgeport. A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he served as a 1st Lieutenant on the European Front. He enjoyed dancing, bowling with the Easton Seniors and sang with the Coastal Chordsman for over 50 years. Charles was an avid NY Yankee and UCONN Women's Huskies fan. Survivors include a son, Charles J. DeCesare and his wife Pat, a daughter Sandra R. Hromjak and her husband Paul, all of Milford, three grandchildren, Michael C. DeCesare and his wife Sharon, Charles V. DeCesare, Lisa Henkel and her husband Bret, four great grandchildren, Kaeli and Michael J. DeCesare and Ethan and Jack Henkel. He also leaves to cherish his memory a brother, Salvatore DeCesare of Newtown, sister-in-law, Marion DeCesare of Vermont, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank DeCesare and three sisters, Florence Nuccitelli, Theresa Boccialetti and Molly Capozzi. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 10th floor nursing staff and the hospice staff of Bridgeport Hospital for the care given to Charles during his time of need. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
