Obituary of Mary A. Tavella

Mary A. Desien Tavella, age 84, of Trumbull passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip Tavella. Born in Carbondale, PA on October 1, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Ciance Desien. Mrs. Tavella had been employed by St. Joseph Manor of Trumbull, where she had worked as a dietary aid for many years before her retirement. A true supporter of New York sports teams, she enjoyed watching the Yankees and Giants and also was a huge supporter of the UConn women's basketball program. She thoroughly enjoyed trips to the casino, but her greatest pleasure was found in the time she spent with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her devoted daughter, Carolann Tavella of Milford, her beloved grandchildren, Sara Procopio, Lauren Tavella and Christina Tavella and daughter-in-law, Sinthia Tavella of Trumbull. Other survivors include her sister, Antoinette Bruno of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Nino Anthony Tavella, sister, Josephine Milas and brother-in-law, Nicholas Bruno. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
