Obituary of August Lindine Jr.

August (Gus) Lindine, age 82, beloved husband of Rosemarie Chiappetta Lindine of Trumbull, passed away on May 6, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Port Chester, NY on October 19, 1931, he was a son of the late August and Frances Sposato Lindine. Gus grew up in Harrison, New York and was a longtime resident of Mamaroneck, New York before settling in Trumbull, Connecticut. Before his retirement he was the proprietor and operator of Lindine Construction Corporation for many years, a family business that he was proud to own with his brothers. A proud U.S. Navy Veteran, he was in the Construction Battalion (Sea Bee's) during the Korean War. He was a member of many civic and community groups including the Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Mamaroneck Pop Warner (past president) and was a longtime parishioner of St Vito's Church in Mamaroneck. But above all else, his greatest enjoyment was the time he spent with family and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Rosemarie of 56 years, survivors include his four children, Gus Lindine and his wife Linda of Easton, Fran Henning and her husband Scott of Patterson, New York,James Lindine and his wife Jennifer of Trumbull, Carrie Smalley and her husband Richard of Fairfield, eight grandchildren, Kelly and Casey Lindine, Brian and Mark Henning, Jimmy and Melissa Lindine, Sean and Thomas Smalley a brother, Frank Lindine and his wife Gloria of Mamaroneck, New York, a brother in-law, James Chiappetta and his wife Alice of Riverside, CT as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo and George Lindine. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 12:30 p.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
