Obituary of Michael A. Grosso

Michael A. Grosso, age 78, of Stratford, beloved husband of Helen Gulash Grosso, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on May 30, 1934, he was a son of the late Michael F. and Margaret DiPronio Grosso and a U. S. Army veteran. Mr. Grosso graduated from Central High School and University of Connecticut, where he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He then attended Seton Hall University, where he obtained his M.B.A in Economics. He worked for many years with the ITT Corporation in various management roles, including Vice President and Director of the ITT Pipe Hanger Division. He retired in 2001 as the West Coast Area Manager of Tyco International Ltd. After retiring, he remained very active, volunteering in several capacities. He was particularly proud of his service as a volunteer income tax assistant and tax counselor with the South End Community Center, a Piping Plover volunteer with the US Fish and Wildlife Services, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) with Child in Placement Inc., a Master Wildlife Conservationist with the Connecticut State Department of Environmental Protection, a crew worker with the Appalachian Trail Conference, and a child mentor with the Eli Whitney Elementary School in Stratford. In addition, he was a substitute teacher in the Stratford School System. In addition to Helen, his wife of 50 years, Michael is survived by two daughters, Cristina S. Grosso and her husband Daniel R. Oros of Richmond, CA, and Laura M. Grosso and her husband Chris J. Peot of Washington, DC and three grandsons, Nathan, Wesley and Page. He is also survived by two brothers, James Grosso and his wife Therese of Trumbull and Ronald P. Grosso and his wife Mary of Stratford, and a sister, Rosemary Obaggy of Waterbury, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford.
