Obituary of Daniel Errichetti

Daniel Errichetti, age 95, of Bridgeport, a retired mechanic for E & F Construction, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 in the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Born in Bridgeport on September 3, 1913, he was a son of the late Rocco and Josephine (Montanaro) Errichetti.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Maria Gallucci Errichetti, four brothers, Dominic, Carmen, Anthony and Rocco Errichetti and two sisters, Mary Susi and Flora Errichetti.

A U. S. Army veteran, Dan entered the Army in March 1941 and was discharged as a Technical Sergeant in June 1945. For his service he was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three battle stars as his unit (1st Engineer Special Brigade) was in the invasion of North Africa, Sicily and Normandy. In North Africa and Sicily his unit was attached to the 1st Infantry and 25th Infantry divisions, respectively. In Normandy, his unit was attached to the 4th Infantry division which landed on Utah Beach on D-Day.

Survivors include a son, Ernest Errichetti of Bridgeport, three daughters, Joanne Mazzeo and her husband Robert of Easton, Rita Errichetti of Bridgeport and Dr. Ann Errichetti and her husband Dr. Mark Keroack of Chicago, IL, two brothers, Frank Errichetti and his wife Jean of Trumbull and John Errichetti and his wife Georgianna of Bridgeport, seven grandchildren, Robert Mazzeo and his wife Holly, Rachel Carcare and her husband Chris, Laura, Kristin and Julia Mazzeo, Simone and Elise Keroack and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Margarets Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ernest Errichetti Scholarship Fund at Notre Dame High School, 220 Jefferson St., Fairfield, CT 06825.
