Obituary of Vincent T. Duva

Bridgeport Resident DUVA Vincent T. Duva, age 79, of Bridgeport, a retired auto mechanic and service advisor, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on January 17, 1930, he was a son of the late Dominic and Gelsomina Genovese Duva. A U. S. Navy Aviation Veteran, he served four years during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club and a special police officer of St. Raphael Church and a parishioner at St. Margarets Shrine. Vincent enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting before his illness. He also had his private pilots license and enjoyed flying. He enjoyed Tuesday night suppers with his granddaughter Angela, grandson Ron, great nieces Jacqueline and Lisa Rolleri. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Judith F. Calcaterra Duva, a son Ronald and his wife Jayne, daughter Debra L. Duva and Gino Accettullo, two grandchildren Angela and Ronald II, a special nephew Michael Rolleri and his wife Sara and their children Lisa, Jacqueline, Michael and Matthew, special cousin Robert Duva and his wife Susan as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, special friends, Rev. Vincent Burns, Michael Covino and his wife Christina, Howard Richelsoph, Richard Zamfino and John Conte. He was pre-deceased by his sister Anna Rolleri Miller and nephew John Rolleri Jr. He loved his bird Puffy and his dog Samantha. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph Rose, Dr. Joseph Rosa, Dr. Harvey Bluestein and the staff of DaVita Dialysis for the care they provided. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Margarets Shrine, 2539 Park Ave., Bridgeport on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
