Obituary of James R. Dunn

Resident of Trumbull James R. Dunn, age 63, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on February 24, 1946 in Stamford, Connecticut, the son of the late John Joseph Dunn and Mary Ellen Keeley. Jim graduated from Stamford Data Processing School and began working for General Electric. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy, where he continued his computer training, attaining the rank of Data Processor Specialist 3. After completing his Navy service, Jim returned to General Electric and began a long and successful career in the information technology field, attaining senior executive positions in several major corporations including, Purdue Pharma, and most recently, X. L. Global Services, Inc. Jim shared his life with his best friend and beloved wife of 40 years, Diane Larson. He adored their three children, and their spouses; Jamie and wife Tracy, Alison and husband, Michael OConnor and John. His grandchildren, Christopher James and Jake Thomas Dunn and Larson Ash OConnor brought him much joy and laughter. Jim was very proud of his community and was devoted to his family and friends. He supported Trumbulls Little League and Pop Warner Football. He was active in Christ the King Church where he sang in the choir. He also was a member of the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield where he would often entertain members with his renditions of Irish songs and his favorite performer, John Denver. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed sharing his many adventures with family and friends. Jim had a very special way of making everyone feel welcome and at home. His humor and spirit will live on in all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to cook, and found that he had a knack for making and bottling wines, winning an award for his 2003 bottle of Pinot Noir. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Jim is survived by his sisters, Barbara Paugh-McAleer, Susan Dunn-Koda (Walter), Laurie Dunn and brother, Kevin Dunn (Suzanne). Jim loved his many nieces and nephews, including Robert Paugh, Sherrie McGary, Melissa, Philip and Meghan Koda, Kevin Dunn and Christine Dunn-Holmberg, and Paul and Cassidy Vignos. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Friends are invited to meet directly in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 4700 Madison Avenue, Trumbull on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Darien. Contributions may be made in Jims memory to the Norma F.
