Francesca Agresta

Obituary of Francesca Agresta

Francesca Agresta, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed peacefully Saturday evening after a long and gradual decline. Born in Calabria, Italy, Frances, as she was known in her adopted country, came to the United States as a young girl with her mother Domenica. They joined Frances father Carmelo, who had left the old country years earlier. The family settled in Bridgeport and Frances soon found herself sister to four brothers. When she was in her early 20s, she met Ippolito, the light of her life, and was swept away by the handsome, cosmopolitan older man. The two married in Holy Rosary Church, where Frances was an active member and participant in various church groups and activities. Throughout her life, she possessed a sincere devotion to her faith. Loving, gregarious and generous, Frances had a quick smile and uplifting words for anyone feeling blue. Family and friends will miss her loving warmth and ready humor. Her father, mother, and brother Domenic preceded Frances in death. She is survived by brothers Augustine, Joseph, and Carmen; daughter Concetta; granddaughter Alexis; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and her sister-in-law, Grace, who was especially supportive in Frances later years. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Peter Church, 695 Colorado Ave., Bridgeport on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
