Obituary of Frank J. Dorio

Frank J. Shiek Dorio, formerly of Trumbull, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the age of 93, at Bridgeport Health Care Center. Mr. Dorio was born on December 14, 1911 in Italy to the late Joseph and Antoinette Dorio. He played professional baseball in the late 1930s and later was a teacher and baseball and track coach at Bassick High School in Bridgeport from 1959 to 1981. He was also the Superintendant of Recreation for the Town of Trumbull for 30 years.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Flora Santora Dorio and his brother, Louis Dorio.

He leaves behind his children, Frank Dorio and his wife, Maureen of Shelton, Robert Dorio and his fiance, Cynthia Mazza of West Haven, Joseph John Dorio of Stratford and Darlene Dorio Tickey and her husband, James of Shelton, grandchildren, Lisa Dorio Bain and her husband Reese of Shelton, Nicole Heriot of New York, James Tickey of Shelton, Jason Dorio of Pittsburgh, PA, Erik and Brett Dorio of Monroe and great granddaughter, Kristina Bain of Shelton. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Biagiona and her husband, George of Trumbull and his brothers, Phillip Dorio of Florida and John Dorio of Bridgeport, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends can meet on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no calling hours.
