Obituary of John D. Donofrio

John D. Donofrio, age 96, of Monroe, a retired custodian for the Kay Avenue School, Milford, died on Sunday, January 18, 2009. Born in Bridgeport on January 28, 1912, he was a son of the late Lorenzo and Antoinette Riccio Donofrio and was a Monroe resident for over 29 years.

He was a member of the Trumbull Bocci Club and truly enjoyed gardening. Mr. Donofrio was an avid fan of the NY Yankees.

Survivors include beloved wife of 71 years, Margaret Guerra Donofrio, his two daughters, Joan Mills of East Haven and Laurie Macisco and her husband Albert of Trumbull, a brother, Daniel Donofrio of Trumbull, a sister, Antoinette Attianese of North Branford, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Carrie Lucia, Jennie Saviano and Adeline Samoretti. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of 9 North and MICU at St. Vincent Medical Center. 

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
