Obituary of Donato DiNicola

Donato DiNicola, 100, of Stratford, devoted husband of Angelina Di Nicola, died in his home on Sunday, April 22, 2012. Born in Abruzzi, Italy, on September 19, 1911, he was the son of the late Cesidio and Alberina Di Nicola. He was a veteran of the Italian Army and served during World War II as part of the Italian Alpine Mountain Corps. He was granted passage to the United States in 1955 as part of the United States Italy refugee relief program for World War II prisoners of war. He worked for the Fosco Amatruda Corporation and the E & F Construction Company. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Angelina, daughters Elizabeth Dehner and her husband Jerry, of Woodstock, Georgia, and Alberina Bevacqua and her husband Michael, of Stratford. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, William and Alicia Dehner of Roswell, Georgia, Steven Bevacqua, of North Hollywood, CA, Lisa Bevacqua and Catherine Proto, of Belleville, NJ, Christopher and Meganne Dehner, also of Woodstock, Georgia and great grandchildren, Katherine, John and James Dehner. He was predeceased by four brothers in Italy, Belgium and Venezuela. He was an avid gardener and winemaker, who loved to dance. He enjoyed playing bocce and watching all sporting events. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Mark Church 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
