Obituary of Francis A. Grillo

Francis A. Grillo, age 95, of Trumbull and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Born in Bridgeport on September 23, 1916, he was a son of the late Virginius and Ada Corodina Grillo. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in France and North Africa, he was recognized by his commanding officers for his heroic measures taken to save fellow soldiers from under a burning jeep. He was the former owner and operator of Arts Amoco in Bridgeport for 35 years and was also employed by the State of Connecticut, Bridgeport Mental Health Department where he had worked for over 10 years before his retirement. He was a selfless individual who was always willing to help others and put their needs before his own. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean Hansen Grillo, infant son, Arthur Alan, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his daughters, Harriet Troesser and Karl Troesser of Trumbull, and Francine Heredia and her husband Angel of Bridgeport, grandchildren, Karla Troesser, Jonathan Troesser, and Samantha Heredia and great granddaughter, Leonella Heredia as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the health care providers who assisted him in his home, as well as the staff at the Jewish Home for the Elderly for their care and compassion. A very special acknowledgement is extended to his sister-in-faith, Sister Alphonsa for her loving care. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
