Obituary of George J. Deyo

George J. Deyo Jr. (Gunner), age 71, of Bridgeport, a retired employee of Bridgeport Machines, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Born in Bridgeport on May 23, 1937, he was a son of the late George Deyo Sr. and Concetta Romano Deyo Ferraro, and was pre-deceased by a grandson George P. Deyo III and his stepfather Dominick Ferraro.

Mr. Deyo served in the Army National Guard where he was recognized as a sharpshooter and was congratulated for bringing down the 1st R Cat for Brigade during Field Training Period. He was formerly employed by Altieri and Cascella Bakeries. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

Mr. Deyo is survived by his wife, Annette Masciola Deyo, his children, Rita Deyo, George Deyo and his wife Donna, Thomas Deyo and his wife Doreen, Concetta Gutman and her husband Michael, Richard Deyo, Peter Deyo and his wife Kathie, Ann Lauro and her husband Michael, Anthony Deyo and Denise Miller and her husband Steve, two brothers, Peter Deyo and his wife Joanne and Thomas A. Deyo, 12 grandchildren, Jenifer Benway, Michael Deyo and his fiance Laura Treado, Jennifer Deyo and her fiance Richard Bucci, Michael Gutman Jr., Jonathan Deyo, Sarah Deyo, Kenneth Gutman, Richard Deyo Jr., Michael Lauro Jr. and Jack Deyo, Madysen and Kyle Miller, two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Benway and Cailyn Deyo as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Margarets Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
