Obituary of Anthony J. DeFilippo

U. S. Airforce Veteran Anthony (Tony) DeFilippo Jr, age 60, of Shelton, previously of Bridgeport, entered into rest peacefully with his family around him on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at St Vincents Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Anthony and Rose Serapiglia DeFilippo. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Linda Edwards DeFilippo of Shelton, his daughter Theresa DeFilippo Corby and her husband Ken of Shelton and his son Robert DeFilippo and his wife Kara of Naugatuck. He also leaves behind his greatest joy, his four grandchildren, Kyle and Kaitlyn Corby and Sophia and Ava DeFilippo. Tony was a graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for Connecticut National Bank in Bridgeport for 12 years and for Pathmark Supermarkets for 15 years. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees as well as college and professional football. Tony also had a passion for music of the 50s and 60s. All of those who knew Tony admired his strong will and determination during his 17 year battle with cancer. Tony also leaves behind many cousins, aunts and uncles. Tonys family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the medical staff at St Vincents Medical Center Seven East and the Dana Farber Institute in Boston for all their care and support for the last 17 years. A special thank you to the medical group of Dr. Robert Burd in Fairfield, the group of Dr. Arnold DoRosario in Bridgeport and Nanette who cared for him throughout his illness. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
