Obituary of Charles P. DeAngelis

U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II Charles P. DeAngelis, age 91, of Fairfield, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on July 13, 1917, he was a son of the late Albino and Agatha DeFeo DeAngelis and was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Along with his late brother, Frank, he was the co-owner and operator of County Fuel Service in Fairfield. Mr. DeAngelis was a loving and devoted father and proud grandfather who always lived life to the fullest for his family. He loved playing cards and especially enjoyed good Italian food with his relatives and friends at annual family picnics and birthday parties. During his retirement years, Charlie enjoyed traveling, spending his winters in Florida. His favorite place to go every morning when at home was Buds Deli in Fairfield to be with his wonderful nephews. He will be fondly remembered especially by his two granddaughters for his wit, kindness and caring, and great sense of humor. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Rose Melita DeAngelis, a brother, Frank DeAngelis and his longtime companion and friend Blanche Zaczek. Survivors include his son Charles F. DeAngelis and his wife Betsy of Stratford, two granddaughters, Rosanne DeAngelis of Jersey City, NJ and Bonnie DeAngelis of Stratford, four sisters, Angie Colacurcio of Bridgeport, Mary Culligan of Naugatuck, Edith Diachenko and her husband Walter of New Port Richey, Florida and Eleanor Nalven of Scarborough, NY, as well as several devoted nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Rd., Fairfield on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
