Obituary of William A. Crooks

Trumbull Board of Finance Chairman of the Board William (Bill) A. Crooks, Jr., age 72, of Trumbull, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in St. Vincents Medical Center. He lived in Trumbull with his beloved wife of 49 years, Dolores (Di Donato) Crooks. Bill was the proud father of three daughters and three son-in-laws: Lori and Gary Starr of Louisville, Kentucky, Sue and Dave Colon of Trumbull and Kerri and Chris Schaefer of Deep River; and a very proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Brittni and Carly Colon and Kelli, CJ, and Katie Schaefer. He was the brother of Vikki Herman and her husband Bill of Fairfield and brother-in-law of Richard Di Donato and his friend Diane Bader; nephew of Doris Toth of Louisville, Kentucky. Bill is also survived by two nieces and two nephews, Debby and her husband Chris Greenwood of Trumbull, Kait Herman of Fairfield, Richard Di Donato, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Westport and Chris Herman of New York City and grand nieces and nephews; Rodney Arganese, Mike Romano and Aly Romano of Trumbull and Morgan and Mikayla DiDonato of Westport. He also had several cousins in the area. He graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and is a licensed Connecticut CPA. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. He was appointed Business Administrator for the Trumbull Public Schools in 1966 retiring in 2003 and worked under five superintendents. He also worked closely with the Town of Trumbull Finance Directors. He was elected for a second four-year term to the Trumbull Board of Finance and currently was the Chairman of the Board. He was formerly a senior auditor with Price Waterhouse & Co. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren whether it was at their sporting events, on the golf course, in the pool or eating ice cream at Friendlys. He was a dedicated fan of the Trumbull High School Eagles Athletic Program and attended as many football games as possible proudly admitting that he only missed a handful of games in 45 years. He attended every FCIAC & CIAC State playoff games. He was also very proud of the Trumbull High School Marching Band. He was a member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, Trumbull Booster Club, Trumbull Touchdown Club and Trumbull Diamond Club. He was also a member of the Elks Club and the Germania Schwaben Club. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
