Obituary of Cynthia M. Corey

Cynthia Maker Corey, age 51, of Shelton and formerly of Norwalk, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009 at her home after a long and courageous battle with lupus. She was the wife of William Corey Jr. Cindy was born on April 11, 1957 in Mount Vernon, NY to Thomas and Joan Ellingson Maker.

Cynthia touched everyone she met with her strength and her spirit and spent her life dedicated to her family. She spent many years helping out in the schools at which her children attended, loved to travel and spend time outdoors.

She was pre-deceased by her sister Janet Catena and family dog, Honey.

Along with her husband and parents, she will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Jennifer Teixeira and her husband John of Naugatuck, Thomas Byrne and his wife Andrea of Waterbury, Meghan Giard and her husband Ken of West Warwick, RI and William Corey III of Shelton, her four cherished grandchildren, Makayla, Hunter, Jacob and Trevor, sisters Elizabeth Peterson and Kathryn Jordan. Also left to cherish her memory are three brothers-in-law, Terry Corey, Kevin Corey and his wife Sue, Bob Corey and Meg Dennis and several nieces, nephews and friends. 

Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
