Obituary of Mary Gopian

Former Wallingford Resident Mary Vakel Gopian, formerly of Wallingford, CT, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2005 after a prolonged illness at the Clifton Health Care Center. The daughter of the late Jakob and Lucy Vakel, she was born on March 22, 1919 in Worcester, MA. She, her sister and brother tragically lost both parents at an early age and were raised as orphans. After graduating high school, she went on to work at her uncles plumbing supply store where she met her future husband, Harry. Following marriage, the loving couple moved to Bridgeport where she worked as an inspector for the Belknap Company and Detroit Controls Corporation. Mary was deeply religious and lived each day guided by her faith. She attended church regularly and was actively involved in the Womens Guild of the Armenian Church for many years. She loved to crochet and thoughtfully crafted many beautiful afghans to give to her family and friends. She was a kind and generous person, a devoted wife, a loving mother and an adoring grandmother. Mary is pre-deceased by her husband Harry Gopian and brother, Harry Vakel. She is survived by her son, Alan and his wife, Holly of Shelton; two grandsons, Bryan and Grant; a loving sister, Violet Goshdigian and several nieces and nephews. She will forever be remembered as a warm and caring person by her adoring family and friends. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 17, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, (Route 127), Trumbull and at 10:30a.m. in the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
