Obituary of Sharon A. Chickering

 

Sharon A. Trester Chickering, R. N., age 57, wife of Ronald C. Chickering, died Monday, July 5, 2004 at their home in Monroe following a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born in Bridgeport on October 26, 1946 to the late Harry L. Trester and Teresina (Rose) Dacunto Trester. Sharon lived in the area most of her life and was a Monroe resident for 27 years. She was a graduate of Trumbull High School and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. Sharon was a Registered Nurse certified in Geriatrics. Most recently, she was the Infection Control Nurse at Northbridge Health Care Center until stricken with cancer in December 2002. She also had been active in local parent groups and served as an officer of the Stepney School PTO and Monroe Parents Council. Sharon will be fondly remembered as a talented, generous and caring wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, nurse and friend. Her unique sense of humor will be sadly missed and never replaced.

In addition to her husband of 35 years, Sharon is survived by her daughter, Jody Reynolds and her husband, Greg of Wellington, Florida, her son, Seth Chickering and his wife, Kristeen of New Milford, her cherished and adored grandchildren, Pierson Jacob Reynolds and Emily Rose Chickering, brother and sisters-in-law, Carlton, Phyllis and Lorraine Chickering, a niece, Liana Denzel Cibery, a nephew, Eric Denzel, several aunts and uncles, a very special group of cousins and the many caring and supportive friends whose immense help and support during Sharons illness was overwhelming. In addition to her parents, Sharon was pre-deceased by sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Frederick Denzel. 

Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
