Obituary of Anthony L. Cerino

Owner of the former Gemma Importing Market on the East Side of Bridgeport. Anthony L. Cerino, Sr., age 94, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Ann Cassidy Cerino, died on Saturday, September 27, 2008 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on February 10, 1914 a son of the late Giuseppe and Lucia Verderame Cerino and spent most of his life operating the former Gemma Importing Market on the East Side of Bridgeport. He was a former parishioner and active member of the St. Charles Church Community in Bridgeport. Mr. Cerino was the original director of the St. Charles Food Pantry, a sponsor of the St. Charles Brazilian Childrens Fund, and a former member of the choir. Most recently he was a Resident Ambassador at Atria of Stratford and an avid bingo player. He will be remembered for his love of singing, match making, and pride in his familys accomplishments and size. Survivors include his children, Joseph Cerino and his wife, Barbara of Arcadia, FL, Jackie Vallillo and Dave Craig of Stratford, Maureen Cerino of Stratford, Anne Spoldi and her husband, Franco of Morgan Hill, CA and Carey Moran and her husband, Jim of Shelton, a brother, Albert Cerino of Bridgeport, a sister, Rose Truncone of Crawfordsville, IN, 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, many special nieces and nephews, and special friends Peter Piretti and the late George Buckmir. He was predeceased by a son, Anthony L. Cerino, Jr. a daughter, Lucille Ring, a son-in-law John Vallillo, two grandsons, Anthony Cerino and Raymond Cerino, a granddaughter, Jamie Moran and a great-granddaughter, Lisa Cerino, two sisters, Florence DeDonato, Antoinette Cox and a brother Joseph Cerino. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
