Obituary of Stephen P. Cassidy
Stephen P. Cassidy Sr., age 89, of Bridgeport, a retired Bridgeport Police Officer with 35 years of dedicated service and the former owner of Joes Diner in Stratford, died suddenly on Friday, June 17, 2005. Born in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary Cassidy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Bridgeport Police Benevolent Association, CT Police Benevolent Association, Police Retirees Association, was instrumental in founding the Police Federal Credit Union, and he was active in the parish of St. Augustine Cathedral.
He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Cassidy Jr, five brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Philomena Petitte Cassidy, a daughter, Loretta Walser of Monroe, a son, Robert Cassidy Sr and his wife Mary Jane of North Carolina, a brother, Richard Cassidy and a sister, Claire Willer, both of Florida, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 8:30 am from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 am in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Monday 4 -8 PM.
