Obituary of Marino Casagrande

Marino Casagrande, age 88, of Bridgeport peacefully passed on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Vincents Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Lauro Casagrande. Born in Bridgeport on October 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Orlando and Elvira Ronchini Casagrande. A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, Marino had been employed by the Cooper Surgical Company, where he had worked in the shipping and receiving department before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and could often be found fishing at Seaside Park and Pleasure Beach. He also took great pride tending to the vegetables in his garden. Murphys other enjoyments included photography, artwork and woodworking. He always looked forward to family picnics and spending time with his family and friends. He had a deep love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Mark Casagrande and his wife Karen, Mary McCourt and her husband Edward and Valerie Lupinacci and her husband Stephen, all of Shelton, six cherished grandchildren, Michael Casagrande, Alicia Lugo, Dawn Petrocelli and her husband Matthew, Edward McCourt and his wife Nichole, and Matthew and Justin Lupinacci. There are also five great grandchildren, Juan, Luke, Olivia, Hannah and Hailey, and loving nieces and nephews, his sister, Lucy M. Mingolello of Bridgeport and sister-in-law Ruth Casagrande of Middlebury, who will all miss him dearly. Marino was predeceased by his brothers, Orlando V. and Rudolph Casagrande. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
