Obituary of Mary Vivian Carrafiello

December 06, 2011 Devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Mary Vivian Carrafiello, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home, three months before her 104th birthday. She was pre-deceased in 1962 by the love of her life, her husband Jimmy. Because of the many sorrows along the way, she learned to appreciate and enjoy every moment of life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother- Gi-Gi to all. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and a charter member of the Senior Club. Her greatest pleasure was entertaining her family. She always celebrated every holiday with a little party for the entire family. She wrote poems for all family celebrations. Her Irish wit and loving smile always surfaced during some very trying times. She is survived by three devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Ruggio, Mary Jo and Sal Pace, and Vivian and Joe Palsa. (Her sons-in-law could do no wrong.) She was proud of her seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren-who always looked forward to visiting Gi-Gi. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law and traveling companion, Mary Carrafiello and several nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her loving son-in-law, John S. Ruggio, her sister, Josephine Gunther and two brothers, Rod and William Kiley. The family wishes to greatly extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff on the second floor of Lord Chamberlain for their tremendous compassion and caring. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no calling hours. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of her son-in-law, John S. Ruggio, may be made to Swim Across the Sound, St. Vincents Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
