Obituary of Maria Carfo Piazza

Resident of Bridgeport Marie Carfo Piazza, of Bridgeport, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 with her family by her side at St. Vincents Medical Center. Born on May 26, 1923 in Cosenza, Province of Calabria, Italy to the late Francesco and Gaetinni Tucci Aiello, she came to America in 1948, after marrying Salvatore Carfo. She worked for many years at Altieris Bakery and normally held at least two jobs to support her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Rosemarie Carfo of Waterbury, her son Vincent Carfo and his wife Maryellen of Seymour, her grandchildren, Cheryl Rosetti and her husband Drew of Ansonia, Michael Dalby and his wife Celina of Waterbury, Vincent Carfo of Seymour, Andrea Gallo and her husband Kevin of Naugatuck, Eric Dalby of Waterbury and Aimee Carfo of Seymour, her great grandchildren, Michael Jensen, Giovanna Mia and Joseph Dalby, Nicholas Rosetti, Jacob Carfo and Giovanni and Luciano Gallo, many nieces and nephews living both here and in Italy, and her friends Gracey Sylvia and the rest of her people at Curtis Homes. She was pre-deceased by husbands Salvatore Carfo and Louis Piazza and also pre-deceased by a sister Gullieta and brothers Bernardo, Fausto, Pepino and Oresto, all of Italy who along with her mother and father she reunites with for the first time after leaving her home land so many years ago. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Lord Chamberlain and St. Vincents Medical Center and especially Dr. Fitzgerald for all their care. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Margarets Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
