Obituary of Jerry J. Giovanelli

U.S. Navy Veteran Jerry J. Giovanelli, age 89, of Trumbull, loving husband of Frances Scala Giovanelli of 58 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Cambridge Manor. Born on February 13, 1922 in Corona, NY, he was a son of the late Antonio and Rose Domini Giovanelli. Jerry was a resident of Trumbull for 37 years and a resident of New Haven in his younger years before his marriage to Frances. He was a WW II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Mount Olympus. Jerry was a carpenter and floor installer for many years with Goodwin Flooring Co. and other companies. He was a member of the Carpenter Local # 210, member of the Trumbull VFW Post # 10059 and Trumbull AARP. Jerry was also an usher at Christ the King Church for many years. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard Young and Essio (Ace) Giovanelli, a sister Annette Rutkowski Wall and brother-in-law, Sebastian Scala. In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Frances, survivors include his sisters in law Gloria Young of New Haven, Charlotte Giovanelli of Guilford and Anna Scala of Stratford, brothers and sisters in law Anthony and Helen Scala of Easton, Joseph and Betty Scala of Texas, Rosemarie and John McKeown of Virginia as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would sincerely like to thank the staff at Cambridge Manor for their care and compassion of Jerry. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 9 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
