Obituary of Lucy E. Camillo

Resident of Bridgeport Lucy Elizabeth Camillo, age 92, of Bridgeport, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Victor Sr. and Marygrace Camillo. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis DAndrea of Ozark, AL, her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Agnes Camillo of Stratford and sister-in-law Georgina Camillo of Florida. She was pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law Matthew and Marion, Commodore, Nuncio, Victor and Marie and Augustine Camillo. She is lovingly remembered by two generations of nieces and nephews. Lucy was born in Haverstraw, NY and moved to Bridgeport at a young age. She was a graduate of Central High School and most proudly a graduate of St. Vincents Hospital School of Nursing and worked her entire career for St. Vincents Hospital. Lucy was known for her beautiful operatic voice. A Coloratura Soprano, Lucy sang with the Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra on Public Radio and as St. Raphaels Church. Her sister, Phyllis was often her accompanist on the piano. Lucy studied with the Metropolitan Opera, but gave up the opportunity to move to New York City to perform with them when four of her brothers enlisted in the Armed Services at the start of World War II. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Lord Chamberlain for the loving and compassionate care she received throughout her stay. The family would also like to thank VNS Hospice especially her nurse, Patti and her aide Trish for their care and understanding. Funeral Information Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lucys name to the Alumni Fund at St. Vincents College, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
