Obituary of J. Arthur Burrows

Trumbull Resident BURROWS- J. Arthur Burrows, age 93, of Trumbull, retired treasurer and controller for Barnes Engineering of Stamford, died on Friday, June 2, 2006 at his residence. Born in Southampton, England on February 2, 1913, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Frances Smith Burrows. A graduate of New York University, he was the past president of Financial Executives Institute of Fairfield County. Throughout his life, Mr. Burrows was active in the Boy Scouts of America achieving both Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver ranks. After his retirement, he remained an active member of the Fairfield County Council of the Boy Scouts as well as the Norwalk Community College Foundation. He was an usher and a member of the Parish Council at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton. Mr. Burrows was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Frances Artale Burrows, a son, Robert Burrows, a brother, Raymond H. Burrows and a sister, Nina Tanner. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Verna and her husband, Robert of Trumbull, a daughter-in-law, Loraine Burrows, four grandchildren, Jonathan, Gregory and his wife, Maura, Robert and his wife, Nikki, James and his wife, Harmony, two great grandchildren, Dante and Shaye as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition, the Middlebrooks Farm residents and staff, and in particular his devoted aide, Phyllip Fraser. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Rd., Wilton, on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Wilton. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or to a favorite charity, through the funeral home.
