Obituary of Nicholas P. Gill

Nicholas P. Gill, M.D., age 86, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Maureen Nee Gill, died on Thursday, March 22, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Flanagan Gill. He graduated from Fordham University in 1948 and Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1952 and served his internship at Bridgeport Hospital. Nick also served in the U.S. Army as a medical doctor from 1954 to 1956, in Korea and Massachusetts, and attained the rank of captain. In addition to having a large practice in family medicine, Dr. Gill was a Senior Attending Physician and Chief of the Department of Family Practice at Bridgeport Hospital, was board-certified in family practice and was a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice - Charter Member. He enjoyed golf, reading and traveling, but his true passions were his family, his friends and the care of his patients. Nick was a former member of the Patterson Club and the Trumbull Exchange Club. He is survived by his children, Mary-Kate Gill and her husband Ray Villanova of Woodbury, Nicholas P. Gill, Jr. and his wife Paula of Ridgefield, Peter Gill of Trumbull, and Sheila Marini and her husband Robert of Trumbull, his son-in-law, Fran Gough of Leighton, PA and his loving grandchildren, Eric and Lauren Villanova, Travis and Alana Gill and Matthew and Michael Marini. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ruth Gill of Stratford, brother-in-law, William Savery of Delaware, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Maureen, he was predeceased by his daughter Maura Gough, his brother, John Gill and sisters-in-law, Patricia Savery and Sheila Kane Cianelli. Funeral Information A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may call on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
