Obituary of Casper Zito

WWII Veteran Casper M. (Cap) Zito, age 82, of Stratford, died suddenly on Friday, March 16, 2007 at his residence. Born in Brooklyn, New York on December 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Basil and Josephine Buscemi Zito. Mr. Zito was a retired Business Manager for the Connecticut Post and Milford Citizen Newspapers, and had over 45 years of experience in the newspaper industry. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Bridgeport. A U. S. Army Air Corp. veteran of WW II, he recently worked on the committee to construct a WWII Memorial in Stratford. He was a past president of both the Milford Rotary Club and the Park City Little League and was a former member of the Milford Chamber of Commerce. Cap took great pride and joy in supporting his family, especially his children and grandchildren at many of their sporting events. He was also an active tennis player and an avid Brooklyn Dodgers and Mets fan. Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years, Gloria Bagon Zito, three loving children, two daughters, Barbara Madden of San Francisco, CA, Betsy Hatch and her husband Chris of Milford, a son, Robert Zito and his wife Elaine Ackerman of Meriden, four cherished grandchildren, Jessica Vanecek, Greg Zito, Josh and Katie Hatch and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 19, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
