Obituary of John S. Agronis
Dedicated Husband, Father and Grandfather
John S. Agronis, age 77, of Huntington, beloved husband of Marietta Leonetti Agronis, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Haradros, Greece on May 2, 1936 he was a son of the late Socrates and Eleni Raliou Agriogiannis. Mr. Agronis came to the United States in 1954 where he settled in Bridgeport. While attending school, he met the love of his life, Marietta and they were married in 1963. From a young age John acquired a talent and passion for carpentry, which he acquired from his father. Throughout his life he came to master his craft and many of his projects will continue to shine in the homes of his family. Later in life he was a self- employed restaurant proprietor for many years before his retirement in 2006. He was an extremely hard worker and was proud to have passed his carpentry skills and work ethic down to his son and grandsons. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who truly loved his return trips home to Greece as well as his wifes home town in Italy. His greatest enjoyment however, was found in the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, Marietta, survivors include two loving children, Helen Zervos and her husband Demetri of Monroe and George Agronis and his wife Rachel of Ohio, eight cherished grandchildren, Anthony Zervos and his wife Jessica, John and Leonardo Zervos, and Matthew, Adriaghia, Acacia, Athena and Ariel Argonis, a brother, Andrea Agriogiannis and his wife Triantafile of Greece, and sisters, Athanasia Papoulia and her husband Hercules of Greece and Vaseliki Vitali and her husband Dario of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
