Obituary of Jamil Zakhour

Jamil (James) Zakhour, age 85, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Leila Shibly Zakhour, died peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at St. Vincents Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born on January 15, 1927 in the Christian Biblical City of Antioch, Syria, he was a son of the late Elias and Malaki Zakhour. He came to the United States in 1968. A hardworking man, Mr. Zakhour was a custom tailor overseas and also worked at many area retail stores until his retirement from Macys. But above all he was an honest and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who cared deeply for his family. His values and traditions will continue to live on through his family. In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Leila, survivors include three devoted children, Eli Zakhour and his wife Tanya of Bridgeport, Alice Mitri and her husband Joseph of Trumbull and Alfred Zakhour and his wife Hala of Trumbull, seven cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Thomas, Michael and Nicole Mitri and Jimmy, Lenna and Jenna Zakhour; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and one sister. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
