Obituary of Penelope P. Allweier

Penelope Patience Pekar Allweier, age 67, of the Huntington section of Shelton and Ogunquit, ME, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 of leukemia. Born April 18, 1944 to late Nicholas and Albina Juracka Pekar, Penny was a Fairfield resident until she moved to Huntington in 1970 with her beloved husband Werner who pre-deceased her. She was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School, attended the University of Connecticut, and graduated summa cum laude from Housatonic Community College as a library technical assistant. Penny worked for 23 years in various administrative capacities for the Christian Counseling and Family Life Center in Huntington. For many years, she and her husband volunteered with the Pack 1 Cub Scouts and at the St. Lawrence Church carnivals. Penny was happiest when cooking and baking for family and friends. She was an avid reader all her life. She enjoyed collecting, antiquing, the arts, traveling and most of all, Ogunquit.

Penny leaves two dearly loved children, Karl of Stanfordville, NY, and Dana, also from Huntington. Survivors also include her brother, Nicholas Pekar and his wife Laureen of Stratford, five adored nieces and nephews, other family and many loved and loving friends. 

Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
