Obituary of Margaret Magner Youngblood

Margaret Magner Youngblood, age 95, beloved wife of Willard K. Youngblood, a resident of Oronoque Village in Stratford and Boca Raton, FL passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY on July 31, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Laurence G. and Emily C. Magner. Margaret was a 1940 graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she majored in Economics. Margaret met Willard K. Youngblood (Whitey) in Schenectady and they were married on September 7, 1940. This was a marriage that would last for 72 years. The length of this marriage was a testament to their love and devotion to each other. He was the love of her life. Her love of family allowed her to maintain a wonderful, loving home for her children and husband. While residing in Riverside, CT, Margaret, Whitey and their two daughters were involved in the community, being active members of the Innis Arden Golf Club, the Riverside Yacht Club and the First Congregational Church. Growing up, Margaret was very athletic and that continued throughout her life. She was an excellent golfer and enjoyed bowling and sailing. An avid sports fan, she followed sports teams and knew the names of all the players and scores of the games. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and many friends whether it was on the golf course, sailing or hosting parties. Marge and Whitey enjoyed traveling together. They spent a lot of time in their homes in St. Maarten and Boca Raton, FL where she loved the beach and ocean. Margaret was always a lady, sweet and kind with a beautiful smile that everyone loved. She always brought so much joy to others. We will forever hold her in our hearts. Survivors include her two loving daughters, Suzanne Y. Finnegan of Stratford, Carolyn Y. Binney and her husband Robert H. Binney of Atlanta, GA, five grandchildren, Richard W. Lees, Jr. of Somers, CT, Deborah L. Zsebik of Fairfield, CT, Robert H. Binney Jr., Gregory B. Binney, Tyler Y. Binney, all of Atlanta, GA, 13 great grandchildren, Charles and Ryan Zsebik, Richard and Robert Lees, Cameron, Ashley and Jacob Binney, Christopher, Luke and Matthew Binney, Jordan, Ryan and Meredith Binney and a sister, Dorothea Paige. She was pre-deceased by her son-in-law, Waldron J. Finnegan. Funeral Information A Memorial Service celebrating her life will take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. directly in Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Committal will be at the convenience of the family.
