Obituary of Ronald Gibson
Resident of Norwalk
Ronald J. Gibson, age 75, of Norwalk, beloved husband of Eileen Finn Gibson, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Born in Bridgeport on February 24, 1933, he was a son of the late James and Lillian White Gibson. He graduated from Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University. He was a U. S. Army veteran and an instructor for the U. S. Army School of Finance in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. Mr. Gibson was a retiree of the Olin Corporation where he was the Distribution Manager for urethane chemicals and manager of Marketing Operations for the Consumer Products Division. Prior to that, he had also held various management positions in Information Systems with Olin Corporation, Sikorsky Aircraft and Columbia Records. Upon leaving Olin in 1985, Mr. Gibson purchased Artistic Iron Works in Norwalk which he owned and operated for the next five years. Since then he has worked part time at Oak Hills Golf Course. Mr. Gibson was a former member of the Norwalk Lions Club, Ischoda Yacht Club, the Kiwanis Club of Norwalk, the Sons of Italy, the Knights of Columbus and the Oak Hills Mens Golf Association. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Thomas Gibson and Michael Gibson, both of Norwalk, a brother, James Gibson of Hamden and two sisters, Joyce Mullane of Longwood, FL and Monica Klansky of St. Augustine, FL. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
