Obituary of William Neil Wham
William Neil Wham, 69, died December 8, 2004 at home in Trumbull, CT, where he resided for 33 years. He was born December 28, 1934, in Mineola, NY, the son of William and Jessie (Neil) Wham who had immigrated from Scotland. He graduated from Syracuse University where he was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity, and participated in baseball, football, soccer and championship boxing. Mr. Wham served in the U.S. Army in Europe and represented his military company on their baseball and football teams.
The family will receive friends 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT; a private family burial will take place on Long Island, NY.

Subsequently, Mr. Wham became involved in the scientific publishing industry when he, in 1968, launched the journal American Laboratory, and the publishing company, International Scientific Communications, Inc. (ISC), in Greens Farm, CT. He has held the title of Publisher and President since the founding of the company. Over the years, ISC introduced as many as 15 additional publications and opened other offices in the U.K., Europe, and Japan. Mr. Wham focused on promoting the domestic and international marketing of laboratory products. He was a generous and considerate employer who will be greatly missed by his employees and industry colleagues.
On March 6, 1966, he married Lynn (McCorvie) in Westport, CT. He was a great traveler and an avid sportsman, playing competitive tennis as a member of the Patterson Club and in Trumbull town tournaments, and he was an enthusiastic golfer. He qualified to compete in the National Senior Olympics in track and tennis and coached Trumbull Youth Soccer. A member of the Pinewood Lake Assoc., he enjoyed swimming, boating and ice skating on Pinewood Lake where he was a prior member of the Lake Preservation Committee and PLA Board of Governors; Trumbull Civitan Club; and Trumbull Land Trust.
Mr. Wham was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and William Wham and cousin James Carmichael. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lynn McCorvie Wham of Trumbull, CT; a son, McCorvie Wham of Milford, CT; a daughter, Avery Wham of New York, NY; cousins Billy and James Hodgson of Glasgow, Scotland; brother-in-law Neal McCorvie and wife Barbara of Vero Beach, FL; niece Laura McCorvie of NJ; niece Dana (McCorvie) Maniatty and husband Philip of New Canaan, CT; nephew John McCorvie and wife Denise, and children AnnaMarie and Julienne of Boulder, CO.
Mr. Wham had a charismatic personality, a big smile, and a bright outlook . He was kind, upbeat, loyal, patriotic and had a corny sense of humor that everyone loved.
