Obituary of John J. Welsh

John J. Welsh Sr., age 90, of Stratford, a retired lead man for the Raybestos Manhattan Co. with 42 years of service, died on Saturday July 16, 2005 at his residence. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Holt Welsh, and was a Stratford resident over 55 years. Mr. Welsh was a member of the Old Timers Retirees of Raybestos and the Stratford YMCA. He was an avider swimmer and reader, but most enjoyed sharing time with his family.

He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Theresa Buchino Welsh, three brothers, Thomas, Joseph and William Welsh and two sisters, Agnes Carver and Mary Sedlak.

Survivors include his devoted children, Jean Byron and her husband Terry of Ansonia, John Welsh Jr and his wife Carol of Southbury, Joseph Welsh and his wife Linda of Shelton, Theresa Soltis and her husband Michael of Stratford and Anna Gullesh of Shelton, 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 8 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9 a.m. in St. James Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
